Kim was born August 11, 1960, in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Ron and Mary Lou Cutler Adkinson. She married Robert E. Ruff on June 13, 2009, in Springfield.
Kim was employed with several area organizations including, IARF, Illinois Press Association, and Senate Republicans, until she became owner and operator of Accreditation by Design. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and the Island Bay Yacht Club. Kim liked to have fun, laugh, work in her yard, and spend precious time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed being with her dear friends from the Southeast Class of 1978.
She was preceded in death by her father, Ron Adkinson.
Kim is survived by her husband, Robert “Bob” Ruff of Springfield; son, Justin Filson of Springfield and his children Haley and Ryker; daughter, Brandy Van Meter of Springfield and her daughter Lilian; mother, Mary Lou Adkinson of Springfield; brother, Mike (Jill) Adkinson of St. Charles, MO; and many nieces and nephews.
Cremation was provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies.
Memorial Gathering and Ceremony: Family will receive friends from 9:00 until 10:45 a.m. on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at Grace Lutheran Church, 714 E. Capitol Ave., Springfield, IL. A memorial ceremony will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Tom Krieger officiating.
Celebration of Kim's life will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at Island Bay Yacht Club, 76 Yacht Club Drive, in Springfield, from 2:00 until 6:00 p.m.
Burial will be held at a later date at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the American Cancer Society.
