

Karen S. Wahl, 66, of Springfield, died at 5:25 a.m. on Sunday, December 21, 2014 at her home. Karen was born November 11, 1948 in Springfield, the daughter of Oliver F. and Anna Marie Roth Stockton. She married Henry Lee Wahl on July 18, 1994 in Springfield; he preceded her in death on October 25, 2012. Karen was the first female to work in the Sheriff's Office, the first female to become Lieutenant, and the first female to retire from there. She enjoyed crocheting dolls and playing bingo. She was also preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Darah Urban; and brother, Richard Stockton. She is survived by her children, Laura (husband, Tim) Wilkinson of Girard, Loretta (Jim Pierceall) Urban of Berlin, and Billy (wife, Dawn) Urban of MO; numerous grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; siblings, Toni (husband, Robert) McConnell of Yukon, OK, Pat (husband, William) Handley of Springfield, VT, Thomas F. (fianc, Tammie) Stockton of Springfield, IL, and Fred L. (wife, Penny) Stockton of Jacksonville; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and her two beloved dogs, Missy and Sissy. Cremation was accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center following private family ceremonies; close friends and County family welcome.
