He was born February 17, 1937 in Petersburg, IL, the son of the late Samuel I. and Carrie (Hamilton) Caswell. He married Ruth Milam in Warsaw, MO in 1959 and they divorced. He later married Virginia Burtle in Springfield in 1970 and they divorced.
Mr. Caswell was retired. He was a veteran of the U. S. Marines. He loved his family dearly and enjoyed spending time with them. He also was an avid reader and loved the outdoors.
He is survived by 2 daughters, Madonna (husband Mack) Mackenzie of Windsor, MO, and Sandy (husband Kenny) Strode of Springfield, 4 grandchildren, Miya Berube, Colton, Connor, and Camryn Strode, 3 great-grandchildren, Tre, Katelynn, and Jacob, a brother Wayne (wife Sue) Caswell of Lavergne, TN, and 2 sisters, Rosemary Caswell of Bloomington, IL, and Bunnie (husband Kevin) Caswell-Cruise of Girard, IL. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Patricia Caswell, Jean Gallo, and Joan Knappmeyer, and a brother Monte Dale Caswell.
Services are under the direction of Bisch and Son Funeral Home, 505 E. Allen, Springfield, IL 62703 where visitation will be held on Thursday, May 13, 2010 from 4 to 7 pm. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 14, 2010 at 10:30 am at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield.
