John P. "Jack" Keane, 72, of Springfield, died at 8:55 a.m. on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at Memorial Medical Center. Jack was born October 12, 1940 in Oak Park, IL the son of John and Olive Mathesius Keane. He married Jean Chuse on July 8, 1967 at Sacred Heart Church in Rock Island. Jack proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and was an employee of Illinois Bell and retired from Ameritech after 30 years. He was a member of Telephone Pioneers. He volunteered with Southwest Youth, Big Brothers & Big Sisters, Cub Scouts, and Boy Scouts. Jack kept stats for his grandson's Springfield Fury baseball team. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Jean Keane of Springfield; two sons, David (wife, Debby) Keane and Robert "Bob" Keane, all of Springfield; one daughter, Kathi Keane of Springfield; two grandchildren, Elizabeth and Matthew Keane, both of Springfield; and one brother-in-law, Paul (wife, Ursula) Chuse of Las Vegas, NV. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. A prayer service will be held at 4:45 p.m. Funeral Mass: 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at Christ the King Catholic Church, 1930 Barberry Dr., Springfield, with Rev. Joseph Ring celebrant.
