James Martin Moffett, Sr., 82, of Springfield, died at 9:10 p.m. on Monday, November 2, 2015 at Memorial Medical Center. James was born July 1, 1933 in Springfield, the son of John and Nita Chalmers Moffett. James was a graduate of St. Patrick's Grade School and Feitshans High School, and worked as an engineer for Illinois Bell Telephone Company, retiring in 1986. He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1953-1955. James enjoyed golf, and was a Khoury League baseball and Christ the King basketball coach. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, John Joseph Moffett; and son, James Martin Moffett, Jr. He is survived by his children, Jeanne (husband, Robert) Harbour of Chatham, Theresa (husband, Reuben) Willis of Godfrey, Daniel (wife, Lisa) Moffett and Mark Moffett, both of Springfield; daughter-in-law, Kendra Moffett of Edwardsville; nine grandchildren, Nicole (husband, Joey) Lau, Jeff and Emilie Harbour, Joe and Maddie Moffett, Alex and Shannon Willis, Allie and Will Moffett; one great-grandson, Ethan Lau; two brothers, Michael "Mick" (wife, Sylvanne) Moffett of Springfield and Robert (wife, Margery) Moffett of Clearwater, FL; sister-in-law, Marie Moffett of Springfield; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation & Funeral Mass: Family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 5, 2015 at Christ the King Parish, 1930 Barberry Drive, Springfield. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
