Irma L. Lowery

Irma L. Lowery, 81, of Springfield, passed from this life to the next on, Saturday, January 28, at Lewis Memorial Christian Village. Irma was born on June 5, 1930 in Lake Fork Township, IL, the daughter of Clyde and Elva (Patterson) Cruse. She married Robert W. Lowery in Springfield, on September 23, 1950. They celebrated 60 years of marriage together until he preceded her in death in May of 2010. Irma was an Assistant Vice President at Chatham Community Bank for 20 years until she retired in 1985. Irma was a charter member of Chatham Baptist Church. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she enjoyed baking, gardening and collecting bells, which she had an extensive collection. Irma is survived by two daughters; Sharon (James) Croxton, Karon (Dennis) Gephart, both of Springfield, her grandchildren; Kaili (Doug) Gustafson of Rochester, Hillary Croxton of St. Louis, Nicholas (Tiffany) Gephart of Granite City, IL, Jacob (Lara) Gephart of Springfield, her great-grandchildren; Ryan Gustafson, and Wyatt Gustafson of Rochester, her sister, Alberta Buxton of Swansboro, NC, and several Nieces and Nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, her son, J. Allen Lowery, two sisters; Betty Dunn and Jean Cruse, her brother Harold D. Cruse, and brother-in law, Jim Buxton. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at 11 am at Bisch and Son Funeral Home, 505 E Allen St. Springfield IL 62703. Visitation will be from 10 am until the time of service. A burial will follow at Chatham Cemetery. Chaplain Dave Harmon will conduct the services. In lieu of flowers memorials in her name may be made to St. Joseph Church, 1345 N 6th St Springfield, or to Trinity Lutheran Church 220 S 2nd St Springfield.
