He was born in Poggio Moiano, Italy, on October 9, 1935, the son of Pietro and Rosa (Morigi) Papili. Giovanni married Eletra (Mastroddi) Papili on February 7, 1959.
Giovanni was an honest and hardworking man who loved and took great care of his family. In 1957, he worked for Chevrolet, transferred to a shoe company in 1959, and later joined the Carpenters Union in 1961. Giovanni worked various other positions before retiring in 2000. He enjoyed woodworking, watching TV, spending time with family, and mowing the yard.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Pietro and Rosa Papili; wife, Eletra Papili; and brothers, August, Luigi, Marino, and Leno.
Giovanni is survived by his children, Giovanni Papili, Jr. of Riverton, Mario (Stephanie) Papili of Spaulding, Kathy (Greg) Doerfler of Springfield, and Lisa Papili of Riverton; two grandchildren, Nicholas and Joseph Doerfler; and one step-granddaughter Suzette Cribbett. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
