He was born in Loraine, IL, on September 28, 1933, the son of Orville and Laura Shaw Frohn. Franklin married Dorothy J. Frohn on March 23, 1957, in Mendon. She preceded him in death on March 29, 2024.
Franklin was a very generous and helpful man to those in need. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. Franklin graduated from Unity High School in Mendon, IL, and later graduated from Lincoln Land Community College and Springfield Business College. He retired from Ameren, formerly known as CILCO, after 35 years, and later worked for Menards for 8 years. He additionally served as an auctioneer and a simulated patient at SIU School of Medicine. Franklin and his wife, Dorothy, ran a nutrition business from home known as Frohn Enterprises. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and spending time with his wife and family. Franklin was a member of Grace Church, formerly Berean Baptist Church where he was in leadership and also served as a deacon.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Hazel (Howard) and Dorothy (Virgil) Hull, Eileen Frohn, and Lucille (James) Taylor.
Franklin is survived by his daughter, Paula J. (Jeff) Frohn of Springfield and Steven (Regina) Frohn of Algonquin, IL; grandchildren, Jonathan (Jennifer) Frohn of Arlington Heights, IL, Justin (Mindy) Frohn of Algonquin, IL, and Brittney (David) Morales of Elgin, IL; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will host a visitation and celebration of life at Grace Church, 3401 S. 6th Street, Springfield, on Friday, May 17, 2024. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. and a ceremony to follow at 12:00 p.m.
Graveside Ceremony will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Camp Butler National Cemetery with military honors provided by the Department of Defense and the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
