Fletcher Philip Utterback, 66, of Springfield passed away in Naples, FL on March 12, 2017. Fletcher was born in Decatur, Illinois on January 4, 1951, the son of Fletcher Philip and Jeanette Brennan Utterback. He married Joyce Roberts in Myrtle Beach, SC. He attended St. Mary's Grade School in Decatur, Griffin High School in Springfield, and Western Illinois University in Macomb. He was employed at Franklin Life Insurance for more than 27 years. He went on to work for the State of Illinois, where he was manager of Information Technology at the Springfield Comptroller's Office. He retired after 18 years of service in 2016. He was a 21-year member of the B.P.O. of Elks Lodge #158 and a life-member of the TRN Club at Lake Springfield. He was also a member of the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library Foundation and Ducks Unlimited for many years. He was the most thoughtful and caring man, always making sure others had whatever they needed before himself. He was dearly loved by all and will be sorely missed. He is survived by his beloved wife of 36 years, Joyce Utterback and 3 stepchildren, Karen (Dennis) Overturf, Connie (Tom) Mulchay, and Charles (Verna) Roberts. He was Papa Phil to Angelique Conrad, Jennifer, Charlotte and Ashley Overturf, Kristi Kincaid, Lenzy O'Dell, and Paige, Rhiannon and Charles Roberts; great-papa to 12 great-grandchildren; and had many Utterback, Brennan, Conway cousins and friends. Cremation was accorded in Naples, FL. Remembrance and Memorial Gathering: Family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 30, 2017 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. The gathering will begin with a remembrance at 4:00 p.m. Private family burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
