Elizabeth Charlene Eck

Elizabeth Charlene Eck, 77, of New Berlin, died at 1:40 p.m. on Sunday, December 23, 2012 at Walker Nursing Home in Virginia. Charlene was born June 10, 1935 in Ashland, the daughter of Charles and Rosene Dunlap Votsmier. She married James Edward Eck on June 11, 1955 in Jacksonville. Charlene graduated from Routt Catholic High School in Jacksonville, Class of 1953. She was a devoted wife and mother. She was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Altar and Rosary Society, and the New Berlin Women's Club. She was an avid reader, participated in several bridge clubs, and enjoyed crosswords, swimming, and sewing. Charlene was actively involved in the daily operations of her husband's realty business. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Bill Votsmier; and a sister, Ann Alvey. She is survived by her husband, Jim of New Berlin; her children, Tim Eck of St. Louis, Bev (Brad) Tucker of Colorado Springs, CO, Tom Eck of Dallas, TX, and Bonnie (David) Heitz of Rushville; four grandchildren, Cole (Alaina) Heitz, Andrew Heitz, Ashley Tucker, and Brent Tucker; three great-grandchildren, Lily Heitz, Hailey Tucker, and Lucy Heitz; and a sister, Marge (Clyde) Ludlum of Bushnell. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at St. Mary's Church, 404 E. Birch St., New Berlin. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m. Additional Visitation and Funeral Mass: 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 27, 2012 at St. Mary's Church with Rev. Kevin Laughery, celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in New Berlin. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Church, 404 E. Birch St., New Berlin, IL 62670.
