Eleanor O'Brien Schwartz

Eleanor O’Brien Schwartz, 91, of Springfield, died at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 28, 2004 at St. Francis Medical Center in Topeka, KS. Eleanor was born December 26, 1913 in Springfield, the daughter of Edward L. and Mary Murphy O’Brien. She married Maynard Schwartz on November 11, 1942; he preceded her in death in 1986. Eleanor was a graduate of Springfield High School and St. John’s School of Nursing. She retired in 1973 after thirty-five years as a Registered Nurse at St. John’s Hospital. She was a member of Church of the Little Flower and Little Flower Ladies Guild. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers: Edward and Robert O’Brien. She is survived by her son: Lee (wife, Beverly) Schwartz of Topeka, KS; daughter: Sue (husband, Craig) Feger of Springfield, four grandchildren: Lisa (husband, Paul) Bredemeier of Overland Park, KS, Lee Aaron Schwartz of Wichita, KS, Lindsey and Joshua Feger both of Springfield; three great grandchildren: Lily, Laura and Jeremy Bredemeier; three sisters: Nan Jumper of Chatham, Norene Davlin of Springfield and Margaret “Peg” Merk of Pasco, WA; two brothers: Lawrence (wife, Mary Alice) and Jack (wife, Sharon) O’Brien both of Springfield; thirty-four nieces & nephew and fifty-five great nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 4 – 7:00 p.m. Sunday, January 2, 2005 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield. A prayer service will be held at 6:45 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 3, 2005 at Church of the Little Flower, 800 Adlai Stevenson Dr. Springfield with Father Chuck Edwards celebrant. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Hospital Foundation for St. John’s School of Nursing, 800 E. Carpenter, Springfield, IL 62702-9985 and Church of the Little Flower, 800 Adlai Stevenson Dr. Springfield, IL 62703.
