She was born on February 2, 1929 to the late Emil and Emma (Pavelick) Malensky. Betty married Henry Edward Day on July 2, 1947. He preceded her in death on September 7, 2000.
Betty worked at several factories including Pillsbury Mill and Sangamo Electric. Betty was most proud of her job at Hope School for the Blind. She was a member of Living Faith Baptist Church in Sherman, IL.
She is survived by her companion Cal Russel, 3 children, Tom (wife Bonnie) Day, Karen (husband Owen) Anderson and Cindy (husband Jim) Day-Dilley, 5 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was loved by all who knew her.
Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter.
Services are under the direction of Bisch and Son Funeral Home, 505 E. Allen, Springfield, where visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 9, 2011 from 4 to 7 pm. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Nov. 10, 2011 at 12 Noon at the funeral home, with Rev. Mark Emerson officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield.
