He was born August 2, 1947, in Grand Prairie, MO, the son of Marco and Irene Young Thresher.
Denny proudly served his country in the U.S. Army where he was stationed in Korea from September 18, 1964, to September, 1970. He worked for Meyers Industries until their closure, then Denny worked and retired from the State of Illinois as a security guard. Denny was Southern Baptist and a member of the VFW. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and family, sitting in his yard watching birds and drinking coffee, and being outdoors. Denny was an avid gun collector and loved to tell jokes and stories. Denny was an organ donor so he could help others, he donated his pacemaker to the U of I Vet Clinic.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Doyle, LeRoy and David Thresher; sister, Felicia Thresher; niece Jackie Holder; nephews, Terry Power, and Mike and Jeff Charles.
Denny is survived by his son, Anthony T. (Mellissa) Thresher of Waverly, IL; daughter, Jennifer H. (Adam) Marshall of Bath, IL; grandchildren Michael (Leah) Thresher of Byron, IL, Nathan (Janelle) Thresher of Jacksonville, IL, and Allyssah M Hughes and Madison P. Marshall, both of Bath, IL; siblings, Sherry Wright of Clinton, IL, Veronica Charles of Springfield, IL, and John (Diane) Thresher of Manito, IL; and several nieces and nephews.
Cremation was provided by Butler Cremations Tribute Center.
Family will host a celebration of life at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, family suggest donations to the American Heart Association.
