Charles was born in Divernon on January 26, 1940, the son of Joseph and Florence Bowman Rumble. He married Darlene J. Oseland on December 18, 1960, in Springfield.
Charles attended Springfield High School. He furthered his education at Lincoln Land Community College and graduated with a bachelor’s degree from SIU Carbondale. He worked for Illinois Union of Operating Engineers #965. Charles also appeared before Congress on the board for Take Time for Living, which helped individuals with disabilities. He loved spending time outdoors, telling tall tales, and working on equipment, vehicles, or anything else he could get his hands on. Charles was also a member of Loami Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Raymond, Joseph Jr., Martin and Frank Rumble.
Charles is survived by his wife; son, Tim (Michele) Rumble of Loami; daughter, Barbara Grisham of Pasadena, CA; grandchildren, Alex and Emma Rumble, and Dane and Eric Grisham; and sister, Mary Alice Schrock of Springfield.
Memorial gathering will be held by the family at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 18, 2024, at Loami Methodist Church.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
