She was born in Springfield on July 26, 1938, the daughter of Howard and Helen (Steil) Fryhoff.
Beverly graduated from Springfield High School with the class of 1956 and later attended Illinois College in Jacksonville. She worked as a legislative secretary for over 25 years with the State of Illinois. After retiring, Bev spent the winter months in Florida where she volunteered her time at the Episcopal thrift shop and food pantry. She also volunteered as a tour guide at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum. She exercised her faith at St. Mary’s Episcopal in Bonita Springs as well as St. Paul’s Episcopal in Springfield.
Bev was an accomplished seamstress, and loved boating, dancing, beach combing, playing Sudoku and golf. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and endless adventures with her grandkids.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Linda Fryhoff; brother, Montell Fryhoff; and daughter, Laura Kay Berry.
Beverly is survived by her son, Jeff Skeels; daughter, Lezlie (Dave) Brannan; son-in-law John (Laura) Berry; eight grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Memorial Service and Memorial Gathering: 3:00 p.m. on Friday, July 26, 2024, at Butler Funeral Home- Springfield, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield with celebrant Judy Woerner officiating. Memorial Gathering will follow from 4:00 – 5:30 p.m.
