Barbara Ann Afeld

Born in 1952 in Springfield, IL. Barbara was the daughter of Daniel and Ida Rubin. Barbara attended Springfield High School graduating in 1970 and later finished her degree in cosmetology. She met her husband Dennis through mutual friends and they married in 1979.

Barbara worked as a beautician most of her life. She owned her own salon “Attitudes” until the late 1990’s. In a career shift, she took a position as a Kindergarten aide at Owen Marsh Elementary School in Springfield, where she worked until her retirement. She had a passion for helping others and always loved working with children.

Barbara loved socializing with her many wonderful friends and family. She also loved shopping, going to concerts, traveling and being out in the sun. She had a beautiful smile and infectious laugh that would always light up a room.

She is survived by her husband, Dennis Afeld; her son Dylan and his wife Robin, and her son Taylor. She also leaves her beloved granddaughter June. She has one brother Bernie (Donna) Rubin of Traverse City, MI and one sister Jodi (Joe) Wallace of Springfield, IL. She is also survived by her cousins, in laws and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her aunt, Sadie Seidman and uncle, Robert “Bob” Seidman.

A memorial service will be held at 6:00pm on Tuesday November 26, 2019 at Bisch and Son Funeral Home, 505 East Allen Street. The family will greet friends from 4:00pm until the time of the memorial service Tuesday at the funeral home.
