Scott McLean Hamilton, age 56, of Springboro, Ohio passed away on Friday, June 21, 2024. He was born in Syracuse, New York on August 23, 1967 to parents Ian McLean and Trudy Ellen Hamilton (Connor).
Scott was a devoted husband, father, son, and Captain (grandfather). His family was the center of his universe and his love for them was immeasurable. He was always willing to lend a hand or ease a concern. He was our Santa every Christmas and loved playing the part for his little grandsons. Scott was a lover of knowledge and had a quick, sharp wit. He was a self-professed "geek,” and there was no subject that could bore him; when he was curious about something, he would absorb every facet of information about it until his curiosity was quenched. His keen mind, loving hugs, and kind heart will always be missed.
Scott worked in the Education Technology Industry. He spent over a decade at Cengage Learning and had worked most recently for Intellum; he had previously worked for Mazer Corp., McGraw-Hill, C&P Press, and for local newspapers in Queens, NY and Illinois. Scott was president of the Chicago Book Clinic and PubTech from 2000 - 2003 and received awards for Media Editor of the Year at Cengage Learning as well as notable awards from McGraw-Hill and the New York Press Association. Prior to his publishing career, Scott worked as a bar manager and bartender at The Cedar Tavern in NYC, where he met his future wife.
He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.
Scott is survived by his devoted wife of almost 33 years, Lori-Marie Hamilton (Licciardo); children, Samantha (Erich), Joy, Ian (Elizabeth), and Parker; toddler grandsons and his best buddies, Camden and Elliot; mother, Trudy; sister, Robin George (William); brother-in-law, Edward Licciardo (Patricia); and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Memorial Mass in Scott's honor will take place on Friday July 19, 2024 at 10:30 AM, at St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, 6245 Wilmington Pike, Centerville, OH 45459. Friends and family are welcome to a reception immediately following at the Church.
