Jerry Downs

He was born in Louisville, Kentucky on January 18, 1944, the son of the late Jack Keegan Downs, Sr. and Leola Estelle (Quick) Downs. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Jack Downs, Jr. and a sister Barbara Downs.

Jerry is survived by his three children, Debbie (Mike) Oliver, John (Monica) Downs, Jenny (Matt) Downs; his siblings, Sr. Janice Downs, Thomas (Lucy) Downs; former spouse, Barbara (Zwiesler) Kronenberg; 6 grandchildren, Ali, Jackson and Lily Downs, Georgia and Thomas Oliver, Izzy Anderson.

Jerry was born in Louisville, Kentucky and moved to Ohio at approximately age 2. He initially lived in Fairborn and Vandalia, OH, where he attended Queen of Martyrs Elementary School. At age 9, the family moved to Piqua, where Jerry attended St. Mary Elementary School and graduated in 1962 from Piqua Catholic High School. He also attended Western Kentucky on a Baseball Scholarship. Jerry played baseball and basketball (4years) and football (2years) while in high school and wrote sports articles for the Piqua Daily Call newspaper.

The family will receive guests at the Anderson Funeral Home- Springboro Chapel, 40 North Main Street in Springboro from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 31, 2023.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 1, 2023, at St. Henry Catholic Church, 6696 Springboro Pike, Dayton, OH 45449 with Father James Manning as the celebrant.

Interment will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery in Piqua, Ohio.
