Ruben (Coco) Velazquez was born on April 19, 1945 to Fabian Velazquez and Francisca Rivera in Caguas Puerto Rico he is survived by his wife Rosa Velazquez who he married in 1967. Children Ruben Velazquez (Annette) Ricky Velazquez (Sandra) and Peter Velazquez (Carmary) 17 Grand children and 28 great grandchildren.
Ruben was a hard working man. At a young age he worked the fields in Puerto Rico. after getting married and moving to the states he worked factory jobs until moving to Indiana and started working for South Chicago Community hospital as an environmental Linen specialist and eventually lead.
Ruben loved to serve and he served with the Charismatic movement in St. Mary's, Transfiguration, and St. Joan of Arch
Ruben had a special fondness for his family, cherishing every moment spent with them, especially his beloved grandchildren. His culinary tastes were simple yet delightful, loving to eat sorullos and sweet farina being some of his favorite foods. His favorite dish was rice with beans and breaded steak.
Everyone who came in contact with Ruben received two things a smile and the truth. These were to driving principals in his life. He loved his family and it is what brought him the biggest sense of accomplishment.
Ruben's first love was Boxing and baseball. Something that he continued to enjoy and talk about with whoever listened. His biggest opponent was Cancer he knocked him out and held the championship belt for almost 24 years.
Ruben Velazquez received the lifelong goal of meeting Jesus in person on October 9, 2024 he has left an immense void in this world. You can honor Ruben by doing three little things Love God, love your family, and make the world smile with you.
