Daphne V. Wilson, age 86, of Spring Hill, FL died on Friday, December 15, 2017 at the Tarpon Bayou Center, in Tarpon Springs. Daphne was born in Limon, Costa Rica, to the Late Enos Chambers and Alexandra Stewart, on December 18, 1930. Her mother died while she was a young child and Daphne was raised by her aunt Adline Parkins, in Rainbow City, Panama. Daphne was educated and raised in Panama and she met her future husband, Sydney I. Wilson, in Panama, and they married on November 28, 1950. Daphne left Panama, and came to the US in 1956, and the family followed in 1957, to Brooklyn, NY and then they moved together to Queens, NY. Daphne worked for the Gold Seal Garments Company in Manhattan, NY as an Administrative Assistant. Daphne and Sydney moved to Spring Hill, FL in 1989, and have made their home here ever since. Both Daphne and Sydney were longtime members of the St. Andrews Episcopal Church, in Spring Hill. Daphne was an avid flower and plant gardener, and enjoyed decorating her home with flowers, and ceramic figurines. Daphne is preceded in death by her parents; Husband, Sydney I. Wilson, on August 8, 2015; Aunt, Adline Parkins; brothers, Reynaldo Chambers, Javier Chambers and Edgar Stewart. Daphne is lovingly survived by her son, Arnaldo Wilson and his fiancée, Valdora “Val” Johnson of Spring Hill, FL; grandson, Alando Antonio Wilson and his wife, Janelle, of Atlanta, GA; great-grandchildren, Christopher, Bryanna, David, Jamir, Roman, and Alyssa. Daphne also leaves behind her brothers Gene Chambers of Panama, Alfanso Matthew of Costa Rica, and sister, Vivene Chambers of Brooklyn, NY; cousin, Gay DeMetrius, of Jacksonville, FL; extended family members including, Aida Wilson and Caroline Wilson; and a host of nieces and nephews. Arrangements and care are entrusted to Turner Funeral Homes, 14360 Spring Hill Drive, Spring Hill, 34609. Family and friends will gather at the funeral home on Friday, December 29, 2017, from 2-4 pm. The funeral Service will be held at 4 pm, The Reverend Kenneth Taber, II will officiate. A catered reception will follow the funeral service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donation in Daphne’s memory may be made to either Breast Cancer Research or Alzheimer’s Research.
