Carolyn Lee (Coyne) Weeks, age 80, passed away April 2nd, 2024 in Spring Hill, Florida, where she had lived since 2019. Born November 16, 1943, in Rock Island, Illinois to the late Leo Edward and Beulah Vera (Danielson) Coyne, Carolyn graduated from Villa de Chantel High School in Rock Island, Illinois in 1961 and Marycrest College in 1965. She married her former husband, William Arthur Vensel on August 28th, 1965. Later, she met Peter Blair Weeks and they married in 1991.
After obtaining her Masters in Library Science from Kent State, Carolyn worked for the Ohio Consumers Council in their law library, and later she enjoyed several years at the Lane Public Library in Fairfield, Ohio. Carolyn and Pete moved to New Cumberland, Pennsylvania where she continued her library career at the New Cumberland Public Library.
Upon retiring, Carolyn and Pete fulfilled their dream of sailing extensively. Living aboard their boat Principia, Peter and Carolyn sailed the Eastern Seaboard, both coasts of Florida, the Bahamas, Mexico and Belize. They enjoyed many good times with family and friends sailing throughout the Chesapeake Bay.
Carolyn’s Catholic faith was a focal point of her life, and she worshiped and volunteered at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Spring Hill, Florida. She loved the creative process, producing a variety of paintings throughout her life, often featuring family and nature. She was a prolific letter writer, and her eloquence and amazing penmanship made every card from her a special treat. She was politically active, participating in and leading the New Cumberland Council of Republican Women.
Carolyn lived life with an optimistic and free spirit, sharing her grace with everyone she met. She had an elegant sense of style, and a sneaky sense of humor. She was always there with a sly pun or play on words.
Carolyn is preceded in death by her husband Peter Blair Weeks. Survived by three children, Christopher (Linda) Vensel of Carmel, Indiana, daughter Laura Michele Vensel of Lutz, Florida, and Patrick (Amy) Vensel of Johnstown, Ohio. Her grandchildren include Briana Malagreca, Jessica Malagreca, Maria Malagreca, Alexandra (Sean Xia) Vensel, William Vensel and Greyson Vensel. She is also survived by her sister Rita (Patrick) Coyne-Logan of Moline, Illinois, and nephews Michael (Christine) Coyne-Logan, Daniel (Jenn) Coyne-Logan and Nora (Tim) (Coyne-Logan) Loss.
A Catholic Funeral Service will be held at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church located at 1107 Commercial Way, Spring Hill, Florida 34606, at 10:30 am on May 11, 2024. Afterward, a celebration of Carolyn's life will be held Saturday, May 11, 2024 at Turner Funeral Home located at 14360 Spring Hill Dr, Brooksville, Florida 34609 . The Memorial service will begin at 12:00 p.m.
