Mary Lou Thomas (Age 93) passed peacefully into the presence of the Lord on October 6, 2024, in Spokane. She was born in Hanford, Washington on October 29, 1930 to Lois and Charles Berglund. At an early age, she accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior and faithfully served God. On November 24, 1948, she married Pastor Ralph Thomas. They pastored churches in Saco and Culbertson, Montana. In Washington State they pastored churches in Yakima, East Wenatchee, Enumclaw and in Spokane at Mountain View Assembly of God. She worked at Sears in the Appliance Parts Department as a clerk for 17 years. After their retirement, Ralph and Mary actively volunteered at Spokane Teen Challenge, a Christian rehabilitation program for those recovering from drug addiction. For several years, they conducted church services at Royal Plaza Retirement Center in north Spokane. They also were a part of Pillars, an interdenominational fellowship of seniors.
Mary was very devoted to her family, willingly giving herself to serve them. She was a wonderful and loving wife, mom, grandma and great-grandmother. She is survived by her children; Bruce (Bonita) Thomas, Duane (Shary) Thomas, Karen (Steve) Adair, all of Spokane and Norman (Debbie) Thomas, of Spokane Valley; nine grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren and one sister, Elaine Kelley of Yakima. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Ralph Thomas, three brothers, one sister and one great-grandson.
A Celebration of Life will be held on October 25, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at Valley Assembly of God, 15618 East Broadway Avenue, Spokane Valley, WA 99037.
