On January 5, 2011 Mary Margaret Long was welcomed home into the Kingdom of Heaven. She was born on September 26, 1931 to Arthur and Margaret Pickard Royce in Cody, Wyoming. After graduation from High School in 1949 in Lingle Wyoming she began a life-long quest of selfless service to others when she moved to Spokane to attend the Deaconess School of Nursing. She received her R.N. degree in 1952 and began working for a prominent dermatologist in Spokane, Dr. Harold Anderson. After 27 years with Dr. Anderson she continued her nursing career giving 20 years of tender, compassionate care to the residents of Lakeland Village in Medical Lake, WA. Upon retirement, Mary never gave up caring for others, whether people or animals. She dedicated her entire life to raising, nurturing and loving everyone blessed enough to know her. Mary married George Reib in Kamiah, ID in 1953. They were later divorced. In 1962 she married Robert D. Long. Mary was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Elizabeth Ann; her husband, Bob and son Ray. Surviving her are a daughter, Peggy Kincaid of Spokane, a son, Joe Long (Debbie) of Medical Lake, sister, Emily Simpson of Roseburg, OR and brother, Arthur Royce (Mary) of Boise, ID, along with many proud grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at Hepton Point Community Center 1831 S. Barker Rd. February 5th at 3pm. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests sending contributions to Spokane Humane Society at 6607 N Havana St, Spokane, WA 99217 or charity of your choice as a memorial to Mary.
