

JoAnn (May) Seagrave was born on August 5, 1934, in Hillsboro, Texas, and spent her early years in Whitney, Texas. In 1944, the family moved to Waco, Texas, where she graduated from Waco High School, and afterwards from Central City Commercial College. She worked at a local business for several years, and then as a secretary at James Connally Air Force base. She also attended Baylor University for evening classes. She met her husband of 70 years, Earl Seagrave, when he was in pilot training at JCAFB. They were married on May 14, 1954. She and Earl moved 13 times in the next 16 years, and were stationed in Georgia, Massachusetts, Alaska, Texas, Oregon, Michigan, Alabama and three times in Florida. They came to Spokane and Geiger Field in 1970. Earl retired in 1976 and the couple settled into their last home in Spokane.
Son Brian was born in Alaska and daughter Rebecca in Texas. Twin sons born in Alaska prematurely only lived a few days and are buried in Alaska.
JoAnn was a volunteer worker with the Spokane Symphony for 8 years as a receptionist and selling tickets at the box office. She also delivered Meals on Wheels. For over 30 years, she was a volunteer at the local PBS station and was named Volunteer of the Year in 1992-93.
She enjoyed fishing and camping with her husband Earl, reading, doing crossword puzzles, and playing board games with her family. She was always the one to beat in Scrabble contests.
She was predeceased by her husband Earl, parents Jimmy and Ursula May, and brother, Benny. She is survived by her son Brian, and wife Becke, of Spokane; daughter, Rebecca Jennings, and husband, Lee, of Spokane Valley; 5 grandchildren: Joshua, Hannah, Elizabeth, Samuel and Sarah; and 4 great-grandchildren.
Interment will be at the Washington Veterans Cemetery in Medical Lake, Washington.
