George spent time in the military stationed at the Naval Air Base in Hutchinson, Kansas. He was often found playing badminton with his Commanding Officers, along with boxing and fast-pitch softball as catcher.
George was honorably discharged from the Navy, where he then began a long career as a bricklayer and masonry contractor. Mostly in the Pacific Northwest he did many jobs, notably the addition to the Spokesman Review building, and the main Rockwood Clinic building.
He was a kind soul who would help anyone who asked and will be sorely missed. Throughout his life he most enjoyed the many active sports he played; from bowling and boxing, to his love of racquetball and fishing with his grandchildren.
George is survived by his loving wife, Nadine Kay Harmon Sherman, her daughter Norma Jean, and grandchildren Amber and Jerrod; also survived by his siblings Lovina, Myrna, Kim, and Al, along with George's two sons George Jr. and Jon, as well as Jon's daughter Michaela.
Please look for more information in June 2018 about a memorial service. For now, there is an obituary posted online at the Ball & Dodd Funeral Home website under obituaries where you’re encouraged to go share your memories of George for the family to see. The family requests donations be made to the Worley Fire District. 31541 S. Highway 95. Worley ID, 83876.
