Passed away May 27, 2010 in his Spokane Valley home of 45 years. Floyd was born July 13, 1929 in Edgerton, Kansas, the third of five boys, to Earl Eugene and Mary Ann (Hugill). He grew up in rural Kansas farming with his parents and 4 brothers; Bill, Dutch, Bob, and Jim. Floyd graduated from high school and enlisted into the United States Air Force. He served in the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1954. He married Romona Lee McGillis February 24, 1953 in Great Falls, Montana. They had three children all born in Great Falls: Roberta Jean (Bobbie), Patricia Ann (Patty), and Daniel Martin (Danny). Floyd periodically returned to Kansas to help his father in the combining industry and held numerous jobs in Montana mostly in mechanical work. In 1965 he took a job as a mechanic with Yardley Drilling Company of Spokane, WA. which he soon assumed part ownership. After six years he established his own auto repair shop on the north side of town, C & H Motors. He built a cabin on Priest Lake, ID which became the family vacation spot for the next four decades. In 1975 he sold C&H Motors and bought an auto repair shop at Priest Lake, ID making the cabin a home for a few years while renting out their Spokane home. They moved back to their Spokane home in 1978 and Floyd obtained a job as shop foreman for the Spokane County Road Department where he retired in 1994. In retirement years Floyd cared for his wife through cancer and Alzheimer’s. He also volunteered with S.C.O.P.E., was an active member of the VFW Post 1435, cooked meals for elderly neighbors, tinkered on cars, remodeled his home, visited the lake cabin, and enjoyed children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Floyd left a legacy of generosity, accomplishment, work ethic, and a zest for life. Floyd is survived by his daughter Bobbie Jean Harrison and Randy of Medical Lake, WA, son Daniel Reeves of Spokane, WA and 11 grandchildren: Cari, Matt, Scott, Michelle, Nick, Katrina, Jonathan, Lindsey, Tanaya, Danny, Levi, Riley, plus 13 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother, Jim Reeves in Kansas. Floyd was preceded in death by his wife Romona on August 18, 2003, his daughter Patricia Ann DiBartolo on November 2, 1996, his parents, and three brothers. On Friday, June 4, 2010, at 12:00 PM an Inurnment service will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery, 7200 North Wall, Spokane, WA. The family is hosting a Memorial Service Friday, June 4, 2010 at 2:00 PM at the VFW Post 1435 at 212 South David Street, Spokane Valley, WA.
