(age 88)
Passed away March 17, 2017 at her home in Spokane, WA. She was born in Moorhead, MN to Martin and Inga Peterson on August 13, 1928.
Donna worked in the clothing industry at KL Manufacturing; however, she listed her “special achievements” as Mom, Grand Mom, and Great Grand Mom. She was also claimed as favorite aunt by many nieces and nephews. God gifted her with a wonderful voice and she played Honkey Tonk piano by ear. Her vocals entertained many including audiences at the Red Rooster, the Golden Slipper and the State Line Gardens. These nightclubs were played by her band, “The Idiots” with Gene Moran on piano and Bud Anthony on drums. Some of the family’s happiest gatherings were songfests around her rumbling upright piano with tacks on the hammers.
She was preceded in death by her six siblings; daughter Darla Walden; and grandson Jesse Walden. Donna is survived by her children Milford “Mel” J. Thur, Jr., Lynda E. Thur, Brenda R. Nelson, and Pamela L. Wise; grandchildren Jason and Leslie Thur, Lani and Simon Thur-Fine, Casi Gronenthal, Charisma and Serenity Wise, Karissa and Bryce Walden. Her great-grandchildren are Cody, Hailie, Hannah, Tranquility, Trinity, Dylan, and Micah; as well as great-great-grandchildren Cash and Ava.
We will all miss your wisdom, prayers and smile.
No services are currently planned. A memorial will be held at a later date.
