Don Hoener, born to Harry and Catherine Hoener on August 24, 1965 in Spokane, went to be with his Lord and Savior on August 11, 2022. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, CaRon Christenson. They were married in Oregon on March 19, 1994. His children, Shannon, Ronda, Brenda, and Ryder were blessed to call him Dad. He took delight in his grandkids: Aiden, Desmond,James,Neveah,Monique,Dani,Reed, Destiny, Conner, and Brinks. Don instilled a hearty work ethic and an attitude of gratitude in all the kids. Even though he was busy feeding cows, slopping hogs, feeding chickens, or mending fences, Don always made time for his family, friends, and church. He lived generously and helped others as the need arose. You wouldn’t hear him complain about much; he would just find a way to make things better.
Don, though a tall, sturdy man, was as gentle as a lamb. His laughter was contagious, and he left a smile in everyone’s heart. He served as a teacher for the Riverside School District. Not only did he teach his students academics, but he modeled conviction and integrity in all aspects of their learning. He was determined to take the high road morally and ethically.
Gatherings at the farm were love offerings. Everyone who came felt welcomed. Cancer may have taken him from this life, but Don lived each day to its fullest with the hope of Heaven in his sights. He was devoted to the Lord Jesus and prayed that family and friends alike would seek salvation. Though our hearts are saddened by his early departure, there is peace in knowing that he is in the Savior’s arms.
