Sarah Elizabeth Sparley

Sarah is survived by her parents, Steven Pfeifer Sr. and Carmen Pfeifer of Soap Lake, WA; husband, Brandon Sparley; Son, Atticus Sparley; siblings, Sheldon Pfeifer (Taylor) of Spokane, WA, Steven Pfeifer Jr. (Rachelle) of Spokane, WA, Trina Locke (Brian) of Yakima, WA, Lecy Burns of Spokane, WA, Jammie Zimmer (Derek) of Lacey, WA, and Keshia Dahl of Spokane, WA; in-laws, Scott Sparley and Linda Sparley of Spokane, WA; sister-in-law, Brittany (Mitch) White; along with 12 nephews/nieces and many aunts, uncles and cousins. She is preceded in death by her mother, Sherry Pfeifer of Ephrata, WA and her Grandmother, Esther Pfeifer of Spokane, WA.

Sarah was born on November 7th, 1983 in Moses Lake, WA to Steven and Sherry Pfeifer. She graduated from Ephrata High School in 2002 and began working in the financial industry for Banks and Credit Unions around the area. After moving to Spokane, Sarah attended Spokane Community College, until she met her future husband, Brandon Sparley. Sarah and Brandon were engaged shortly thereafter and eventually married on November 8th, 2008. In 2011, the couple welcomed their only son, Atticus, into their home and decided to keep Sarah home with Atticus, so she could complete her degree to become a teacher. After only three years, Sarah graduated from Western Governors University in 2015 with a bachelors degree in Special Education. That same year, Sarah accepted a 4th grade teaching position at Greenacres Elementary, where she taught until she was diagnosed with PNET cancer in 2017. After a year-long battle of difficult and complicated cancer treatments, Sarah succumbed to the disease, surrounded by the love and support of her friends and family.

Sarah leaves behind a legacy of caring for others, fighting against social injustice, seeking true joy in the heart of darkness, and embracing adversity. She excelled in everything she set her mind to and made a lasting impact on the lives she touched. Her absence will be noticeable and will be felt by friends and loved ones all over the country.

A memorial service is scheduled for 2:00pm on Saturday, April 21st at Valley Real Life: 1831 S. Barker Rd. Spokane Valley, WA 99016, with a reception to follow. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Sarah’s life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Cancer Can’t at https://cancercant.ejoinme.org/donations2018. The family would like to thank Valley Real Life, Greenacres Elementary, McDonald Elementary, Central Valley School District, the oncology nurses on 7-South at Sacred Heart Medical Center, and the physicians and staff at Cancer Care Northwest for their constant care and support over the last year.
