Peggy, a longtime resident of Fruitland, Washington, went to Heaven on January 30, 2022. She was born on a large cattle ranch in the mountains of near Townsend, Montana. She was the youngest daughter of Clarence and Maude Alex. Her siblings were Dorothy Ann, Tom, and Allen Alex. When she was seven they moved to the Fruitland Valley. Peggy graduated from Columbia High School in Hunters and Kinman Business School in Spokane. She was married to her high school sweetheart, Gordon Hart for nearly 72 years. They lived on a wheat ranch and dairy farm in the Fruitland Valley. Gordon and Peggy had 3 children: Gale, who passed away the day before Peggy passed, Duane who passed in 2020, and Lynda. Gordon passed away May 14, 2019.
Peggy loved being a “Farm Wife” taking care of the family and working alongside Gordon and their son Gale. She enjoyed her many friends and was always an active participant in the community especially the Enterprise Ladies Club. Always busy, she enjoyed cooking, flower and vegetable gardening, crafts, running the ranch and taking care of the farm animals especially farm dogs. Peggy and Gordon loved to square dance and round dance. They snowmobiled with friends, enjoyed their bowling leagues, and traveled in their motorhome.
She is survived by her brother-in-law Don Hart, daughter Lynda and son-in-law Ron Sahnow, grandchildren Josh Sahnow (Holly), Adam Sahnow (Tara), Kim Joy (Bob), Lori Joy (Jeremy), Kate Hart, Aaron Hart, Annie Hart, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Peggy had something special. She was witty, caring, smart, and light. She was a favorite at Sullivan Park Assisted Living. The staff there seems to love her as much as the Fruitland Valley did. Peggy showed us all how to live and we are forever grateful.
