Marilyn Frances Anderson was born at home on February 14, 1934 to Rosanna and Mannie Anderson, where she joined brothers Don, Russ and Cliff. Marilyn went to be with the Lord at the age of 89 on November 4, 2023.
In 1952 she graduated from West Valley High School where she lettered in drama. After high school Marilyn attended Lutheran Bible Institute and Whitworth College. Marilyn then went to work for Addressograph-Multigraph doing bookkeeping.
Marilyn was a survivor and fighter, at age 15 she contracted polio and spent time in an iron lung, and missed a year of school before recovering. Then at the age of 55 she was diagnosed with breast cancer, and endured surgery and chemotherapy. Later she was diagnosed with post polio which resulted in her having a trach put in. Through all these things she never complained and always maintained a positive outlook.
On June 1, 1956 she married the love of her life George McConahy. They were married 66 years, 2 months and 29 days as George would be quick to tell everyone. They were separated 1 year, 2 months and 29 days before she joined him in heaven. As she told a friend just the week before, “I think George is getting impatient for me to join him.”
Marilyn was very active in the Foothills Community Church family, teaching Bible study, playing the piano and organ for church services. She and George spent their winters in Mesa, Arizona, while there they would travel down to Mexico where Marilyn spent time with the children in an orphanage teaching them Bible stories and songs while she played the keyboard.
She is preceded in death by her husband George and her 3 brothers Don Anderson, Russ Anderson and Cliff Anderson and survived by daughter Michelle (Chris) Dogas, sons Pat (Kim) McConahy, Blake (Laura) McConahy, 6 grandchildren Nick, Jared, Travis, Calli, Maria and Noah, and 11 great grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 25, 2023 at Foothills Community Church, 11102 N. Forker Rd., Spokane, WA.
