Lynn Andra Taylor was born May 11, 1954 in St. Paul, Minnesota. Her mother, Marcella Taylor (Saign) married Chester Taylor. They had 4 children, of which Lynn was the third child, having two sisters Diane and Cheryl, and one brother Chuck.
Lynn’s mother was of Syrian descent, and had many extended family living in the Minneapolis area. Kibbeh (baked lamb) was a favorite family dish!
The family moved to southern California where Lynn grew up and attended William S. Hart High School. She had an interest in journalism and was feature editor for the school newspaper “The Smoke Signal”, where she was recognized for her strong contributions. She was very involved with St. Jude Children’s Hospital March of Teenagers fundraiser, winning the Honor Award. She also was a district chairperson for the Danny Thomas Leukemia Drive. She continued to generously support St. Jude every month since.
She was a homemaker dedicated to her family and raising her son Brian, born in 1975.
John was career Navy, which moved the family all over the country including Florida, Northern California and Washington state. When he retired from the Navy in 1984, they built a home in Vancouver, WA in 1984 to be close to Lynn’s family, where they lived for over 30 years. Many Saturdays were spent with Lynn’s sister Diane and her family, playing games, cooking and visiting.
Lynn’s many interests included working around the yard, geocaching, national parks, history, playing games with family, going to concerts, and listening to her favorite music. Road trip vacations were always a favorite. Many summers were spent traveling to national parks or other landmarks across the country. Lynn loved to tell stories and was known for the ‘flourishes’ she added to them.
When John retired in 2006, they went on a trip of a lifetime cruise to Hawaii, where she swam with dolphins and biked down a volcano. She also enjoyed a cruise to Alaska and a trip to Hong Kong to meet John’s aircraft carrier while he was in the Navy. She treasured her trips with her sister to Las Vegas.
In 2018, a few years after John passed away, Lynn moved to Liberty Lake, WA to be closer to family and her new grandson, Jordan.
Lynn faced many challenges in the last few years of her life, and she did so with grace and resilience. She was deeply loved by many, and will be missed.
