Charles was born on May 12th, 1949 to Alice Ternes and Amandus Volk in Flasher, ND.
Growing up, Charles spent a significant amount of time with his aunt and uncle, working on their dairy farm in North Dakota, learning a strong work ethic early on.
He met his wife, Linda, at the Arctic Circle when he had came in to order food and she had taken his order. They had dated for about fourteen months before their marriage on August 20th, 1967.
Shortly after their marriage, Charles and Linda were sent to Germany, as he was stationed there while being enlisted in the United States Army. They persevered being newly weds in a foreign country and had their first son, Todd Volk, while being there.
After leaving the Army, they relocated to Spokane Valley, WA. Their relationship continued to flourish and they had another son, Cash Volk, during the time. Charles worked for Coors Distributors & Lay Rite Products before Charlie and Linda owned and operated Charlie’s & Mom’s Bar and Grill for many successful years.
After retiring, he spent his time traveling, being an active member of the Veterans of Foreign War, and riding his Harley with his wife, Linda; participating in many motorcycle rallies for various causes.
Charles lived life to the fullest, and could talk to anyone and everyone. He found humor in all situations and loved making people laugh. He will be greatly missed by his many friends and family.
