Passed away after a brief battle with cancer on August 2, 2016, at the age of 80. Carol was born on February 3, 1936, in Spokane, WA. to Mac and Helen McKay. She went to Lewis and Clark High School, where she graduated in 1954, and where she met the love of her life, Robert Gifford. They married October 28, 1955, when Bob was in the Army and Carol worked at Prudential Insurance Company. They had two sons, Brian in 1959 and Bruce in 1963. In 1965, they were transferred to the west side by GTE, where Bob was an accountant, and they raised their sons in Marysville, WA. While living in Marysville, Carol worked for the Bank of Everett, where she made many life long friends. She often spoke of her years at the bank with great fondness. After retirement, Carol and Bob moved back to their beloved Spokane, and remained there until Bob's death in 2014, at which time Carol move to Lake Stevens, WA. to be nearer her family. Carol was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Bob and her son, Brian.She is survived by her son Bruce, his wife Marci and their children Brianne, Cameron, Collin and Devin, daughter-in-law Annette Gifford and her children Josh and Amy. She is also survived by her sister, Molly Egeland and brother-in-law, Bob Egeland, and their children. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Ashley Pointe in Lake Stevens, and Providence Hospice for their care and compassion during what was a very difficult time. There will be a graveside service on August 20,, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. at at Moran Prairie Cemetery, 2807 East 65th. Avenue, Spokane, WA.
