Pat was born December 20, 1938, in London, England to parents William Broadfoot and Emma (Prince) Broadfoot during World War II. Her family immigrated to the United States in 1948. She eventually married her high school sweetheart, William Richard Schad. They enjoyed 48 beautiful years together before he predeceased her on his 73rd birthday.
Pat was a statistical typist for Price Waterhouse before earning her certification in Early Childhood Education at Newark State College. She taught at Sparta Engle School, Sparta Library, and the YMCA.
She loved her church community and was active at St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Sparta for over 50 years. During that time she completed a 4 year study in Education for Ministry, was a member of The Altar Guild and Healing Ministry, taught Sunday school and was Co-Chair for St. Mary's 75th anniversary. She also worked as an in-home hospice volunteer.
The true joys in her life were her 3 children and 8 grandchildren. However, she did have other passions that included travel, book clubs, watercolor, pickleball, golf mahjonng, and bridge.
If Pat had a special gift, it was always finding the good in people.
Pat is survived by her son, William Schad III; her daughters, Kimberly and Deborah; her in-law children, Nancy (Hobart) Schad and James Stone; her grandchildren, Nathan, Sara, Matthew, Will, Ian, Michael, Ellie, and Sean; sister, Jean Stolz; as well as her beloved nieces and nephews.
Pat's family will receive friends and family on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 from 10:00 - 11:0AM at St. Mary's Episcopal Church 85 Conestoga Trail, Sparta N.J. A funeral service will follow at 11:00AM. Cremation was held privately.
