Mary Delilah Milnor entered into Eternal Life while surrounded by her loving family in the early morning of Sunday July 10th 2022, after a courageous, nearly decade long battle with cancer. She was 70 years old.
Mary was born in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania to Wesley and Geraldine Willis. She spent time in Jersey City however most of her childhood took place in Kearny where she graduated from Kearny High School in 1970. Mary was a proud Varsity twirler. She met her husband Jim in 1973 and after Jim’s persistence and pursuit of Mary, the two fell in love and were married on Super Bowl Sunday in 1974. They purchased a home in the Forest Lakes section of Byram where they raised their family. Mary and Jim were married 48 years at the time of her passing.
Mary was a stay-at-home mother for her children. She never missed a tennis match or a baseball game. She always made sure their school projects were one of the best in the class and always wanted to bake for class parties. Mary was a Master Gardener. She was the owner of The Golden Basket and sold Longaberger Baskets for over 25 years. She also was an avid Longaberger collector. Mary loved to decorate the house for all of the holidays. It was her passion. If wrapping presents were an Olympic sport, Mary would have been a gold medalist. Every seam lined up perfectly. Every corner crisp. Mary strove for perfection. One of her proudest accomplishments was winning the New Jersey Herald’s Lighten Up weight loss contest. Every once in a while, even until recently, strangers would recognize her from the contest and that mere recognition would make her glow for days. If she put her mind to it, she could do anything. Her proudest accomplishments though were her children and her grandchildren. She relished the role of “Mimi” to the Grands. She loved spending time on Cape Cod with her family. Her family will always cherish the memories made in Chatham and at Pirates Cove Adventure Golf throughout the years. She loved to root for the Chatham Anglers of the Cape Cod Baseball League. Cape Cod was her paradise.
Mary is survived by her devoted and loving husband Jim, her daughter Erica Binazeski (Michael) and her son Bennett (Kristen). She was blessed with five beautiful grandchildren: Derek, Brennan, Elliott, Ellison and Noelle. She is also survived by her brother Thomas Willis. She was preceded in death by her parents Wesley and Geraldine Willis, as well as by the family dogs Bosco and Harley.
Services are entrusted to the care of Goble Funeral Home in Sparta, NJ (22 Main St. Sparta). Memorial visitation will be held Saturday July 16th from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Eleventh Hour Rescue. https://www.ehrdogs.org/info/donate
