Joseph Misukonis

Sparta- Joseph Misukonis passed into eternal life, on Saturday, July 27, 2013 at St. Clare’s Hospital, Denville, with his loving family by his side. He was 68. Joseph was born in Newark, NJ to Vincent and Helen (Miscavage) Misukonis. He resided in Sparta for the past 25 years, formerly of Parsippany. Joseph served his country proudly in the US Marine Corps. He was employed for twenty-five years with The Essex County Corrections Department, retiring in 1995 at the rank of sergeant. He was a member of the Essex County Police Benevolent Association, and a communicant of Saint Kateri Tekakwitha RC Church, Sparta. Joseph is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years, Barbara (Ciborski), two daughters; Nichole Lucena (Milton) of Cliffwood Beach,NJ, and Christine Kavanagh (John) of Byram, NJ and his son, Michael Misukonis and his fiance’ Megan Powers of Boston, MA, a brother; Vincent Misukonis (Annette) of Union, NJ, and many loving family members. Family and friends are invited 2~4 and 6~8 pm, Tuesday.

There will be a 7:30 pm Marine Corps honors, followed by an 8pm memorial service at Goble Funeral Home 22 Main Street, Sparta, NJ 07871.
