Mr. Pratt was born March 20, 1935 in Spooner, Wisconsin to Renaldo and Vandetta Pratt. He was a veteran of the US Navy having served during the Korean War. Mr. Pratt grew up helping his parents with many chores related to the fishing resort they owned and ran called Pratt’s Fishing Camp on Big Lake McKenzie near Spooner, WI. Warren loved many things in life including fishing, water and snow skiing, crossword puzzles and most anything to do with computers.
Warren’s electronic creativity helped him build the first speed boat on the lake, a rope tow for skiing and sliding at their Stillwater home and he received several patents while working for IBM in New Jersey and later for Control Data Corporation in Arden Hills, MN. He also built the family’s horse barn with help from his father-in-law and neighbor Sam Mars. He ran his own business, PTI, Products Through Innovations, for five years, where he sold new and used electronic test equipment, and did repairs and calibration.
Survivors include his wife Jeannette Pratt; three children, Dawn Pieper and husband Terry, Brian Pratt and wife Deanna, Eric Pratt and wife Lynne; a step-son Billy Hampel and wife Pam, 13 grandchildren; Noah, Hannah and husband Stone, David and wife Kelly, Brianna and husband Peter, Daniel and wife Breanna, Elijah and wife Michelle, Joshua, Johnathan, Daniel and wife Breanna, Jedidiah and Emilee, Emmanuel, Austin, Dylan and Amy; three step-grandchildren, Justin, Samantha and Josie; 12 great-grandchildren; Lewis, Tozer, Eliana, Grace, Caleb, Vivian, Damien, Calvin, Karl, Annika, Adalia, Caspian step-grandson Braxton, and two nieces Julie Brantley and Barbara Bergen. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Ronnie and his wife of 52 years, Ione Joanne Pratt.
He was a committed Christian who attended South Shore Trinity Lutheran Church, St. Andrews Lutheran Church, Lakeside Lutheran Church, Living Waters Assembly of God, and Beach Road Baptist Church to name a few.
A celebration of his life will be held at Peacock - Newnam & White Funeral and Cremation Service at 1411 N. Howe St., Southport, NC 28461 on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at 11:00 am. The family will have visitation from 10:00 to 11:00 am prior to the service at the funeral home. A reception will follow the service. A BBQ in Warren’s honor will be held at Big Lake McKenzie summer of 2024. An additional service will be held at Living Waters Assembly of God in Spring Lake, NC.
