Peggy Edwards Sawyer

Mrs. Sawyer was born December 20, 1934 in Pitt County, daughter of the late Jim and Ethel Gordon Edwards. She was a lady of strong faith, a member of Trinity Worship Center and had a servant’s heart. Mrs. Sawyer enjoyed cooking for her family as well as all of her church friends and family. She was a devoted wife, mother, and Nana and will be sorely missed. Mrs. Sawyer was preceded in death by a sister, Gloria Edwards.

She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 51 years, Jimmy Ray Sawyer of Southport; son, Randy Coghill and wife Donna of Greenville; daughters, Carolyn Everette and husband Johnny of Pinetown; Cindy Parker and husband Richard of Southport; brother, Rudolph Edwards of Concord; sister, Betty Jean Bonds and husband Lewis “Jr.” of Williamston; 5 grandchildren; 4 step grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 5 step great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Sawyer also leaves her constant feline companion “Shadow.”

Funeral services will be 3pm Sunday, June 5, 2016 at Trinity Worship Center with Reverend Scott Coghill and Reverend Ron Capps officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior, 2-3pm at the church.

Burial will be 11am Monday, June 6, 2016 at Edwards Family Cemetery in Greenville.
