Michael Paul Hammond

Mr. Hammond was born on May 31, 1945, son of the late Paul and Frances Hammond. He grew up in Middleport, NY and attended Niagara University where he received a bachelor’s degree in business. He later moved to Maryland where he worked for 28 years with the USF&G insurance company and then went on to complete his career as a Vice President of Surety at Zurich North America. He enjoyed many years of hunting, scuba diving, and boating. He retired and moved to Southport, NC in 2007. Michael was a devout Catholic and found strength and solace through his faith.

He is survived by his wife, Lorraine Hammond; four children, Aimee Bartosik and husband Robert, Hollee Hammond, Geoffrey Hammond and wife Heather, and Clairee Bahr and husband David; eight grandchildren, Alexa Cooper and husband Cory, Mikal Bartosik, Jaxon Campbell, Teegan Hammond, Falyn Hammond, Finnegan Bahr, Reagan Bahr, and Rowan Bahr; a sister, Ellen Ryan; and a brother, James Hammond and wife Linda. He was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Hammond; and a sister, Elizabeth Adams.

A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
