He was born on August 14, 1946 to the late John Rooney and Mary Grady in Queens County, New York.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Robert Rooney; sister, Irene Rietzel.
Jack proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. He enjoyed barbeques with his family and friends.
Those left to cherish his memory are his fiance of many years, Kristin Ilchert; daughter, Melinda Vanecek (husband Donald Vanecek); sons, Adam Rooney (wife Carol Rooney) and Matthew Rooney; sister, Mona Flood; grandchildren, Lauren, Daniel, Ryan, Tyler, Gavin, and Mason; numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, November 8, 2023 at Peacock - Newnam & White Funeral and Cremation Service in Southport, NC. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
