He enjoyed the reenactments of the Civil and Revolutionary Wars. Daniel and Mary Jane enjoyed traveling together to Germany and Europe.
He is survived by his children, Lisa (Mike) Herb, Robert Rice, Kimberlee Rice, Tracie (Pete) Smith; grandchildren, Stacey, Jeffery, Daniel, Megan, Emily, Evan, Christopher, Kimberlee, Brittany; 16 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; siblings, Robert Francis Rice Jr., Laura Grant, and Janice.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary Jane; grandson, Daniel Rice; and brother, Bill Rice.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2023, from 2 - 4 PM at the Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at 12 noon, at Sunset Memory Gardens, 8901 Lawyers Rd, Mint Hill, NC 28227.
