Charles Edward Cane Jr, 87, of St. James, died on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 following a series of illnesses. He leaves his wife Dorothy Cane; his sons, Jeffrey, Christopher, Andrew, and David; nine grandchildren; his sister Janet Gianakis; and many close friends.
Born in Manhattan and raised in Chatham, New Jersey, Charlie called many places home, including Wyckoff, New Jersey, Buckingham, Pennsylvania, and St. James, North Carolina. After graduating from The Lawrenceville School in 1950, he attended Yale University, graduating in 1952 with a bachelor's degree in economics, history and political science. Charlie then served in the United States Navy and after his time in service, he started out working on Wall Street. He joined the investment firm of White Weld, which was later acquired by Merrill Lynch, and he remained working in asset management until his retirement.
Charlie was an avid golfer and tennis player and a member of the St. James Super Duper Seniors Tennis Team. He enjoyed spending time on and off the court and links with the many friends he and his wife made in the St. James community, and loved traveling abroad as well.
