Betty was born February 12, 1927 in Southport to the late Capt. LC Arnold and Sarah Minnie Floyd Arnold. She worked at several places in the Southport area, retiring from the nuclear power plant where she worked as a security guard. She was an expert in quilting and gabbing. Betty had helped to work on the bicentennial quit for the Southport Historical Society. She enjoyed making hand made quilts and baby blankets. Betty will be remembered as a very kind and generous person; she would do anything for anyone.
Survivors include her daughter Betty Robbins Blake and husband Tom; a son Richard Arnold Hewett and wife Catherine; three grandchildren, Brad Robbins and wife Maria, Elizabeth Hewett, and Andy Hewett; four great-grandchildren, Todd Robbins, Lilly Robbins, Gunnar Blake, and Teagan Blake; a nephew David O'Neal and wife Judy; and a grandson-in-law, Kenny Ciffo. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Shelly Robbins Ciffo; two sisters, Peggy Giles and Elizabeth O'Neal.
A celebration of life service will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, June 7, 2020 in the Peacock - Newnam & White Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Eddie Hill officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lower Cape Fear LifeCare, 955 Mercy Lane, Bolivia, NC 28422.
