He was born February 12, 1933 in Waterbury and was the son of the late Joseph and Rebecca (Archambault) Lavoie.
Ray was a Veteran of the Korean War serving with the US Navy. He was the manager for First National Grocery Stores throughout CT. He was a Eucharistic Minister at St. Aloysius Church for many years. He enjoyed woodworking and crafts and will be missed by his two dogs Bella & Stella.
He is survived by his children, Raymond J. Lavoie Jr. of Plantsville, Rick Lavoie and wife Sandra of Port St. Lucy, FL, Ronald Lavoie and Daniela of Southington, Lynn DePaolo and husband Wayne of Plantsville and Lori Anne Powell and husband Steven of Southington; a sister, Claire Macdonald of Waterbury; ten grandchildren, Katelyne Lavoie, Danielle DePaolo and her fiancé Kyle Sandberg, Joshua Lavoie, Nicole Lavoie, Colby Powell, Kaylenna Powell, Kayla Philips and husband Andrew, Brittany Bouchard, Billy Integlia and John Integlia; 9 great grandchildren, Madeline Lavoie, Freya Spencer, Lenna Spencer, Aubrey, Norah, William, Waylon, Michael and Johnny Integlia and his longtime companion Patricia Tally. He also leaves many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by four brothers, Marcel, Paul, Roger and Gus and five sisters, Alice Landry, Jeanne Doucette, Theresa McVerry, Bernie Guertin and Ceil Statkevich.
Ray’s family would like to thank Dr. Ralph Prezioso, Dr. Inca Lee, the Southington Care Center and the Summit at Plantsville for all the wonderful care given to their father over the years.
His funeral will be held on Tuesday, August 16th 9:15 a.m. from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington to St. Aloysius Church, 254 Burritt St., Plantsville for a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. Burial will military honors follow at St. Thomas Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday from 4-7 p.m.
