Southington- Lucien M. Plante, 83, passed away Thursday, May 6, 2010 at CT Hospice in Branford after a valiant 2-month fight after heart surgery. He was the husband of the late Lorraine (McGraw) Plante for 55 years.
He was born June 11, 1926 in Lewiston, ME son of the late Emile and Estelle (Carboneau) Plante. Lucien was in the Navy as a Seabee during WW II and later owned and operated his own salon, Soft Touch in Southington for many years. Lucien loved to sing and laugh and spend time in his beautiful garden. He volunteered for 11 years at the Calendar House in Southington, and loved to spend time with his friends. He was a long-time member of the Southington American Legion.
He is survived by a daughter Elaine and husband Edward ?Rink? Stewart, a grandson Chad Stewart and wife Donna and their son Sean, a grandson Brett Stewart and wife Kristen and their son Ian and daughter Viviana.
Those that knew Lou will always remember him with these words: Live well, Laugh often and Love much.
The family would like to thank CTICU at St. Raphael?s Hospital in New Haven for their 7 weeks of wonderful support and loving care, and the staff at CT Hospice for providing Lucien a blessed last day of life with a beautiful view of the water that he loved.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Monday at St. Thomas Church, 99 Bristol St at 11 a.m. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery with Military Honors. There are no calling hours
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to the Southington Calendar House, 388 Pleasant St. Southington, CT 06489 or a charity of choice would be appreciated. DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. is assisting with arrangements.
