Laura Elizabeth (Ransom) Vumback, 77, of the Plantsville section of Southington, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away on December 23, 2023 at Gaylord Hospital in Wallingford following a long illness. She was born on December 9, 1946 in Meriden and was the daughter of the late Laurence and Marjorie (Crunden) Ransom. Laura grew up in Meriden and graduated from Maloney High School. She worked at International Silver in Meriden before beginning her long 35 - year banking career at Home Bank, eventually retiring from Webster Bank as an Assistant Branch Manager and Investment Specialist. Laura was devoted to her family whom she loved deeply and loved spending time with. She had a kind and gentle soul. She will be greatly missed, especially on Christmas which was her favorite holiday. She enjoyed hosting and always made it a very special time for all. She was an avid Elvis fan, enjoyed crocheting blankets for her loved ones, and loved to go antiquing. She also loved the Boston Red Sox, and shopping at Macy’s was a favorite pastime. She is survived by her two daughters, Marie St. Amand of Plainville and Cheryl Crowley and her husband Peter of Forestville; five grandchildren whom she adored, Danielle St. Amand and Caitlin Riedel, and Ashley, Joseph and Mitchel Crowley. She is also survived by a nephew and several nieces, including Renee who was very special to her. She was predeceased by her two brothers, Gene and Laurence Ransom Jr. and three sisters, Leola Wagner, Christine Scatton and Lois Ransom. Friends may call at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 North Main St., Southington, from 10:00am to 12:00pm on Thursday, January 4, 2024. A memorial service will be held at 12:00pm. A private burial will take place at a later date at the convenience of the family.
