Born January 5, 1933 in Chatteroy, West Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Sr. and Peggy (Large) Adams.
Joyce was a Veteran of the Korean War, serving with the U.S. Navy. In 1954, She met Arnold, who became Chief Petty Officer RMC in the US Navy while she worked with the Armed Forces Police and their lifelong commitment to each other of 68 years began.
She leaves her two daughters and sons-in-law, Rita and Dr. Matthew Masserman of Southington and Peggy and Frank Johns Jr. of Waterbury; grandson Benjamin Masserman of Southington; a sister Carolyn Cornwell and husband Jack of Dunnellon, FL and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three sisters, Josephine, Roberta and Rosemary and four brothers, Joseph Jr., Bud, Happy and Robert.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, April 5th at 10 a.m. at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington. Burial for both Joyce and Arnold with military honors will be held at 12 p.m. at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, 669 Platt Rd., Watertown.
