Joyce Sullivan Krawitz McHugh, 92, of Southington, CT, died peacefully at Bradley Hospital on Friday, December 25, 2020. She was born on January 7, 1928 in New Britain, CT, the daughter of the late Daniel and Laura (Morency) Sullivan. She was pre-deceased by her second husband James McHugh with whom she was lucky enough to enjoy traveling to all fifty states and many countries with. Joyce also loved entertaining family and friends at her cottage on Otis Reservoir, Otis, MA, and cruising and vacationing with her family. She was known for her singing of the song “Moon River” and winning at card games.
Joyce is survived by her sister Vivian (Sullivan) Tanguay of New Jersey; her daughter Nancy K. Root, with whom she lived; her son Daniel (Deborah) Krawitz of Cheshire, CT; her grandchildren, Joshua (Melissa) Root of Terryville, CT, Seth (Kira) Root of Chicago, IL, and Katherine (Justin) Krawitz-Buettner of Wolcott, CT. She is the proud great-grandma of Brianna Root, Devyn Root, and Silas Root. She also leaves several nieces and nephews and their families.
Joyce was a very wonderful grandmother and will be very missed by all her family.
Joyce was predeceased by her first husband, John Krawitz, her son-in-law James Root, and her brother-in-law Fran Tanguay.
Arrangements are under the direction of the DellaVecchia Funeral Home in Southington. There will be no calling hours and burial will be at the convenience of the immediate family. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite charity in her honor.
