Jane Wood

Jane (Meier) Wood, 92, of Farmington, beloved widow of the late Dr. Dwight R. Wood, to whom she was married to for over 31 years, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 21, 2022 at the Southington Care Center, surrounded by her family. Jane was born on August 6, 1930 and was the daughter of the late John and Emma (Woerz) Meier. She was a graduate of William H. Hall High School, Wesley College and the Hartford Hospital School of Nursing. Jane dedicated her life helping others, especially as a nursing supervisor at the Brewster Manor Nursing Home in Brewster, MA from where she retired. She was a member of the West Hartford United Methodist Church where she also played the organ. Jane truly loved the outdoors, especially spending time on the beaches, either in Brewster, MA on the Cape or in Vero Beach FL, where she had a winter home. Travelling with her friends and family was the highlight of her life. Her adventures took her to Europe, especially Switzerland where she would visit with family there. She was also very fond of Golden Retrievers which she had as beloved pets over the years. Jane is survived by her children, David D’Annolfo and his wife Nichole of West Palm Beach, FL, and by her daughter Deborah Almeida of Farmington. She was also gramma to Joseph, Nicholas and Kacie D’Annolfo, Kylie, Lauren and Ian Willhoite, Paige Bein, and was recently a first-time great gramma to Zayla Bein. Jane was predeceased by her brothers, John Meier and Rev. Robert Meier of Brewster, MA. Services for Jane will be held privately. There will be no calling hours.
